BEAR MANOR PROPERTIES BREAKS GROUND ON NEW BUILDING FOR WEALTHY
On Monday, April 14th at 4:00, Bear Manor Properties hosted a ground breaking ceremony for the new building at 1015 Wealthy street. There was an amazing turnout for the celebration! Many community members, business owners, representatives from the Chamber of commerce, tradesmen, friends, family and a 10 week old dachshund puppy named Buster were in attendance. The Grand Rapids Press, Wood TV 8, Fox 17, and WZZM 13 all made it out and offered great coverage for the event. We were so pleased that State Representative Robert Dean was also able to take time out to celebrate with us. Barry from Bear Manor, the architect, Brian Winkelmann and Chef Cory all made great speeches about the project, the community and the good food to come. Everyone in attendance was given a spoon-and after a countdown we all broke the ground together with our spoons! Bear Manor bought all of our guests a drink at the fantastic Meanwhile Bar next door. Chef Cory served samples of delicious soup. A great time was had by all!
We want to say a BIG THANK YOU!! to everyone who came out to support us yesterday. We were so thrilled with the turn out and the well wishing and celebrating! We're very excited about this project--and the turn out yesterday just affirmed our belief in this community.
I'll be documenting our progress every day and posting photos on the blog. Keep in touch and we hope to see you at the GRAND OPENING!!!

BRICK ROAD PIZZA COMPANY COMING THIS SPRING!
We are so excited to be bringing two great restaurants to Wealthy street. Jody and Cindy Talbert have been working with us over the course of many months and yesterday we signed a lease for their project: The Brick Road Pizza Company! The Brick Road will bring a much needed sit down pizza place to Uptown and will be a wonderful addition to the Wealthy Street Business District. Deep Dish, sausage crust, sourdough crust, many veggie options, and your standard delicious cheesy saucy pizza perfection will be baked up in the Brick Road's pizza oven. As serious pizza connoisseurs (growing up on the Chicago Deep Dish and having married some East Coast New York Pizza stalwarts)we are always on the look out for some truly good pizza-and we are thrilled that we'll be finding it on Wealthy st.
Now we've got great local Beer at the Meanwhile, Fantastic sandwiches, soup and pie at the Cheetah bistro and delicious pizza at the Brick Road Pizza Company not to mention coffee at the Sparrows....If we can find someone to open up a chocolate shop we'll never ever leave.

COMING SOON! THE ELECTRIC CHEETAH BISTRO!

Bear Manor is excited to be working with chef Cory of the Electric Cheetah Bistro! The Electric Cheetah will be taking up residence in our new Green infill this June. Chef Cory shares Bear Manor's vision of sustainability and has already begun to partner with Local producers for his produce, meats, dairy, and breads. He also plans to incorporate Green practices in the bistro which will also feature many eclectic and resourceful, recycled finds.
We know that the Cheetah is going to be a great neighbor- And under Chef Cory's truly creative vision and energy we know the Electric Cheetah bistro will make a delicious new addition to Wealthy street.

Calvin and Bear Manor working to "Green" Wealthy Street!
Professor Dave Warners of Calvin College has been working with Bear manor to plant native gardens in front of our block of properties on Wealthy street. With the help of his students, Calvin's environmental stewardship coalition and the Bear manor crew native flowers, grasses, trees and even cacti are being planted in a display garden in this high traffic area of wealthy street. This garden will hopefully become part of an overall plan for the "Greening" of wealthy street. It is the second native garden to be planted on Wealthy this year. The image shoppe has already converted their open space at the corner of Wealthy and Diamond into a beautiful showcase of native plantings.
